The Big Bad Wolves

This spring Liam played soccer in the local U4 league for a team his mom coached. Cara worked hard to make sure Liam and his team learned all the basics of the game and they all had fun.

This is about as serious as he got during the games. He tended to stay at the back of the pack chasing the ball, but as the season went on he got closer and closer to being in the middle of things.

The very last game of the season  he finally scored his first goal of the season. I had been telling him for 2 weeks that the game would be his last chance to score until the fall. I think he got the message as he played his best game of the season. Talk about saving your best for last!

Summer T-Ball Is Here!

So far, 2013 has been the year that Liam took an interest in playing sports. This spring he played soccer, with Cara being the coach. As his season wound down he asked about playing baseball this summer, so we went to the local YMCA to gt him signed up. Now I know you are wondering if I followed in my dad's footsteps of coaching YMCA youngsters and I must let you know I did not haha. I decided at this point in time I would better served to be a helping hand to the coach. There have been two games so far and so far I am enjoying herding 3 and 4-year-old children during practice and being the first base coach at games.

It has been pretty interesting seeing the glee on the kids' faces when they hit the ball off the tee and run to first. In our league all the children bat each inning and there are no outs, so no matter what I get each kid at first base with me for a minute or so. I make sure to ask them each time where they are supposed to run when the next batter hits the ball and you can see at each practice and game it slowly starts to click (the first game about half the kids tried to run back to the dugout after they got to first). What I enjoy most is being able to see Liam's face in his over-sized helmet as he runs at top speed to first base. He has a smile on his face the whole time so do I.  Hopefully the rest of the season goes well and Liam still wants to play next summer because Topher will be able to play on the same team.

The Wallace Bash Brothers in Summer 2014 sounds pretty good to me...
